A member is anyone included on a Medibank membership. A membership can be for a single person, couple, single parent family, or family. The policy holder is responsible for the membership and is the main contact for essential information.Â
Can my partner manage my membership too?
Yes, your partner can manage most aspects of the membership if included, such as making claims and changing cover. Only the policy holder can remove themselves or cancel the membership. Membership details may be disclosed to both partners.Â
If I transfer to Medibank from another registered Australian health fund, can I start claiming immediately?
You can claim immediately for services included in both your old and new cover, provided you join Medibank within two months, and have served applicable waiting periods. Additional waiting periods apply for increased benefits or lower excess options. Loyalty bonuses from your former fund do not transfer.
